Back Story

Ei Ie was not always this individual's name as she lived life for over a couple thousand years. No... in fact, this individual's name used to Aumere Lina Esemser. The girl named Aumere was born in a desert village within the continent of Mitakuye -- or as many refer to it -- the melting pot lands. Aumere originally grew up in a household that was comprised of Eldesian beings that had since abandoned their life at the Citadel to live lives on the surface of Ryne and integrated with Ryne's general society.
Aumere grew up getting to know many different Ulowans and Mueme that made up much of Mitakuye. However, the sad fact that remained was that Aumere had also found that she outlived many of the people that she got to grow up with and meet. Because of the Eldesian longevity even surpassing that of Elves of Ryne, before Aumere had even made it to her juvenile years, those that she originally went to school with or even got to meet had grown up and had their own families. At this, Aumere knew that something just... was not right. When she questioned her parents about why that was, she had learned about Eldesian history and their life expectancy.
What was not part of Eldesian lineage, however, was the fast healing and the fact Aumere could change the appearance of varying parts of her body. It seemed Aumere and her family then learned of her ability in shapeshifting. Her family seemed a little at a loss as how to deal with it sonce this was not expected of their kind, though there had not been too many overreactions, nor did they seem to want to bring Aumere to anyone for an examination.
Each shift in form seemed painful at first, though Aumere became rather taken with her ability. It meant that she could feign age, or even pretend to be that of a different race to be able to experience and do things with people that she wanted to be friends with. In the beginning, this skill had been used and rather abused as Aumere changed into different things, and even changed more permanently after taking what she thought to have been attractive features from others and putting them onto herself.
In time, Aumere soon bore witness to her mother and father's passing. In mourning, Aumere had packed her more precious items and had fled from Mitakuye, going on to explore the world of Ryne. She relished in meeting new people and experiencing new things along the way. However, because of Aumere's bubbly nature and devil may care attitude most of the time, she had attracted the attention of some people that she did not want to attract the attention of. After a couple thousand years or so of life, there were still many things that Aumere had not given consideration to, and that was the fact that people like her did not normally exist.
Aumere was then tracked and kept an eye on by an organisation called R.E.D.; to the best of Aumere's knowledge, all she knew was that she did not want to be caught by them. However, after knowing only recklessness, Aumere got herself trapped and then caught with her shapeshifting in mind. Bolts and stainless steel nails were driven through her hands, feet, and various parts of her body at the Commander's discretion to prevent her from taking the shape of something else and making an escape.
At first, Aumere was a little willing to cooperate with R.E.D., though they still kept rods and nails through her body to prevent her from shapeshifting and making an escape. A couple decades of being an experiment for the scientists of R.E.D., Aumere had started to defy and resist the wants and desires that the R.E.D. operatives desired of her. The first signs of resistance were refusing the meals that were brought to her. The second sign was when Aumere started to sleep for days, further refusing to cooperate with their torturous experimenting.
Eventually, Aumere forced herself to stay sleeping. In the time that Aumere was confined by R.E.D. in her self-induced coma, she constantly heard herself being referred to as 'I.E.;, which then spawned her taking on the name 'Ei Ie' -- pronounced exactly the same way as she heard it. This was the name she adopted since forgetting that her name really was.
Before Ei had consciously taken on the name 'Ei Ie', she had been rescued by a mysterious Iliean man with snowy hair that called himself 'Zero'. She later found out that he rescued her because she was the only other person that he had found out about that was also immortal like he was. He had been searching for others like him -- mostly to answer any questions about himself, or how to better live with himself knowing that he has till the end of time. It was when he asked her name that Ei solidified her new identity.
All that Ei remembers before having been brought into the R.E.D. facility was that she was born within a desert town several thousands years ago. She remembers some of the lives that she spent living, and she remembers that she used her shapeshifting ability to take on new lives, or even live life as something other than what she originally was. Hence why she does not remember her original appearance, nor what race she was originally born as. In the end, Ei also does not remember her birth name, she does not remember her birthday, nor does she even remember who her parents were -- though much of this information had disappeared long before she had even been abducted by R.E.D.
Ei found Zero's inquiries and questions a little interesting and amusing to have said the least. After all, Ei had been used to just jumping into a new life with a new identity formed from the features of others that she had seen or met in her lifetime. It was at that moment that Ei realised that perhaps not all immortals had been blessed with her ability to shapeshift into whatever they wanted. This was something that admittedly made her feel a luttle bad for Zero and the queations he must have compiled over his years of living.
Eventually, after taking up Zero on the offer to travel alongside with one another, Ei had developed feelings for him. He introduced her to a lot of the changes that had happened in the last couple hundred years that she had been within R.E.D.'s custody. Zero taught Ei how to use a lot of new electrical devices, and even told her that a new race had made their home on Ryne -- the Offworlders that had introduced themselves as the Tengu. However, Zero had also warned Ei that they should not mingle too much with them, as they were more aggressive.
Zero's friendly nature toward her in specific, and knowing that they were both immortal, Ei was more comfortable being herself around him. It was conforting knowing that she could be with someone... with a friend that would not expire before she did. Or rather, a friend that had as long a life as she did.
Once Zero had introduced Ei to a more technologically advanced city, Ei had been free to wander about and actually observe how things have changed. One of these things were the handhelds and the fact that electronic games were more of a thing. After a lot of the jobs that both she and Zero had done with one another, Ei had splurged a good portion of her Rehalds into purchasing and forming a small beginning collection of games for herself as well as a handheld device that could run the games. Unfortunately, this was the start of a very strong gaming passion and habit. This was mostly because she and Zero lived mostly as travellers most of the time, and anything more than she could carry woulf have gotten tiring.
Years passed as Zero and Ei travelled with one another, and Ei had eventually made the suggestion to purchase a more permanent place of residence for the two of them to return to. With a little bit of poking and prodding, Ei eventually got Zero to agree with her, and they soon poured some of their funds into getting a home within some well forested lands in Arvendor -- continent of the Elves.
